Filigree
Prizren, Kosovo
A year in Kosovo as a US Fulbright Grantee.
As an apprentice at a jewelry collective in Kosovo, I learned the art of silver filigree. Filigree is the art of curling fine, twisted wires of silver or gold into forms that fit tightly into a framed space, which are then covered with a blanket of solder dust and fired into place. Filigree jewelry is particularly popular in Kosovo, a small Eastern European country of ethnic Albanians.
